NIFT was set up at New Delhi in 1986 under the aegis of Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It has emerged as the premier Institute of Design, Management and Technology, developing professionals for taking up leadership positions in fashion business in the emerging global scenario.

Programs & Centers

Admission Process

All candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in the entrance tests. Candidates for the design programs will undergo a Creative Ability Test and a General Ability Test. Technology and Management students will undergo a Managerial Ability test and General Ability Test.

Prospectus along with Application Form can be obtained from the selected branches of Axis
Bank on payment of Rs.250/- (List of AXIS Bank Branches for sale of Prospectus) or by post enclosing a DD of Rs.350/- in favour of NIFT, New Delhi from all NIFT Centres. You can also apply online. You will need to provide certain details from the DD at the time of online submission of application form. You must have the Demand Draft ready before filling up the application form.

• If You belong to General/OBC Category, you are required to obtain a Demand Draft for Rs.1000/- drawn in favour of 'National Institute of Fashion Technology' payable at New Delhi, alongwith the NIFT Application Form filled-in manually. Candidates (General/OBC Category) applying online are required to submit a Demand Draft for Rs.1,250/- alongwith the print-out of the filled-in online NIFT
  Application Form.

• Candidates belonging to SC/ST or Person with Disabilities Category are required to submit a Demand Draft for Rs.500/- drawn in favour of 'National Institute of Fashion Technology' payable at New Delhi, along with the NIFT Application Form filled-in manually. Candidates (SC/ST Category) applying online are required to submit a Demand Draft for Rs.750/- alongwith the printout of the filled-in online NIFT Application Form. Reservation of Seats

• If You are applying under Foreign Nationals/SAARC/NRI category, you are required to obtain a Demand Draft for US $100/- drawn in favour of 'National Institute of Fashion Technology' payable at New Delhi, Indiabefore submission of the Application.

Affix your passport size photograph in the space provided and attach the demand draft of requisite amount with the application. On the back of Demand Draft please write: your name, auto generated application form number, & program applied. Send the above set of documents to:

• Application can be submitted by a candidate only once and against only one of the Programmes which means candidate has only ONE choice of selection of ONE of the Programmes offered.
• The upper age limit for applying in bachelor programmes is 23 years as on 1st November, 2009.
• The objective type tests are subject to negative marking. The negative marking will apply at the rate of 0.25 for each wrong answer.
• Candidates appearing for their qualifying examinations can also apply. Their admission, will be provisional and subject to obtaining the defined eligibility by 30th June, 2010.
  

Admit cards
On the basis of information given in the NIFT Application Form, Admit Card of provisionally eligible candidates will be despatched to the address mentioned in the Application Form. The admit cards for provisionally eligible candidates shall be despatched by 1st February 2010. In case of non-receipt of Admit Cards by mid of February 2010, the candidates can download the Admit Card from the NIFT website
on or after 1st February 2010. On such downloaded admit cards, the candidates are required to affix their
photograph (similar to that affixed on the Application Form) on the downloaded Admit Card and get it attested by a Gazzetted Officer / School or College Principal for producing at the Examination Centre. The entrance exams would be conducted at the following
