About:
NIFT was set
up at New Delhi in 1986 under the aegis of Ministry of Textiles,
Government of India. It has emerged as the premier Institute of
Design, Management and Technology, developing professionals for
taking up leadership positions in fashion business in the emerging
global scenario.
The
course content and duration of 4 year undergraduate/2 year postgraduate
programmes are at par with bachelor/Master Degree courses of any
professional education programme. Students on successful completion
of UG/PG programme shall be eligible to receive NIFT Graduate/PG
Diploma. There is, however a proposal of NIFT under active consideration
of Government of India to obtain the status of Deemed University
under the provision of UGC Act. In the event of this status, all
the students being admitted under 4 year UG/2 year PG programme
shall be eligible to receive a Bachelor/Master Degree in Design/Technology/Management.

Admission
Process
All candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in the
entrance tests. Candidates for the design programs will undergo
a Creative Ability Test and a General Ability Test. Technology
and Management students will undergo a Managerial Ability test
and General Ability Test.
Candidates
can apply for Admissions 2008, by following any one of the procedures
given below:
(i)
Purchasing the NIFT prospectus containing the OMR Application
Form from the selected branches of Axis Bank across India
on payment of Rs.250/- or by post enclosing a DD of Rs.350/- in
favour of NIFT, New Delhi from all NIFT centres.
Candidates
belonging to General/OBC Category are required to submit a Demand
Draft for Rs.1000/- drawn in favour of 'National Institute of
Fashion Technology' payable at New Delhi, along with the NIFT
Application Form filled-in manually. Candidates belonging to SC/ST
or Person with Disabilities Category are required to submit a
Demand Draft for Rs.500/- drawn in favour of 'National Institute
of Fashion Technology' payable at New Delhi, along with the NIFT
Application Form filled-in manually.
Candidates
have to provide the following details in the OMR application form:
1. DD Number
at item no 5 of NIFT Application Form
2. Date of
Demand Draft at item no 6 of NIFT Application Form
3. Bank Code
at item no 7 of NIFT Application Form
(ii)
Visiting NIFT website, applying online
and submitting duly completed print version of Application Form
along with Demand Drafts per instructions given on the website.
You
will need to provide certain details from the DD at the time of
online submission of application form. You must have the Demand
Draft ready before filling up the application form
Candidates
(General/OBC Category) applying online are required to submit
a Demand Draft for Rs.1,250/- along with the print-out of the
filled-in online NIFT Application Form. Candidates (SC/ST Category)
applying online are required to submit a Demand Draft for Rs.750/-
along with the print-out of the filled-in online NIFT Application
Form.
Make
the set of the following documents:
