Work out bit of 10th std Maths sums, rush up on your english vocab, comprehension and gramar and most of all read up whatever bit you can find on Fashion and the apparel industry, for the Bus. Domain section. You can of course make your life easier, but picking up the study material from AFD and working on it starting now.

Reply posted by AFD: Hi Heena, Since you are at Delhi, you could conviniently attend the Summer program scheduled for 27th May to June end. Classes will be held on all weekdays and you can finish your preparatons for the CAT exam of the NIFT paper. during these sumer holidays. You can continue to practise what all has been taught in ths one year at your own pace. Mock Tests are put up on the website every month. You can do the same and submit them to AFD for evaluation. Doubts can be cleared on fixing prior apointment with faculty. This plan will leave you free to devote your entire year to 12th std studies and at the same time prepare you for the exam. Speak to the AFD counselor to know more.

However we are still waiting for the final results of UG Design and PG courses. Ranks are not awarded until the final admission list is published.

You may get in tauch with Ms.Shelu Sagar, the admission Director at IMS-AFJD on 09899188270 and get assistance in the enrollment process. She is a good friend and would assist AFDians and you would be able to avail previlages. We are not sure of the rank it holds in Design colleges as there is no ranking system in place at the moment, however AFD recommends this college.

You can start preparing for the NIFT entrance exam right away with our 2 year postal course which will help you prepare for the entrance exams of both NIFT and NID, so that you can appear for the exams simultaneously with your 12th exams. If Aakash has not appeared for them this year, we suggest that he try for some other good colleges which offer animation and where admissions are still open. Or if he wants to try for NID next year, we suggest our postal course NID-GDPD which will help him prepare for the NID entrance exam next year. We also have the summer program in Delhi from May 15 to June 20, 2008 which will cover the entire syllabus of NID entrance exam.

The weekend program will start on August 16, 2008 and the venues are Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Cochin. Admissions are open for the same. Classes will be there only on Saturdays and Sundays for 5 hours a week.

For preparing for the NIFT entrance you may avail of our postal couse for NIFT UG Design for Rs.5000/- and/or enrol for our Summer Program in Delhi from May 15 to June 20, 2008. We also have the weekend program in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Cochin and Kolkata from August 16, 2008.

Many students clear the nift exam on the 2nd or even 3rd attempt. So don't worry, you can improve on your score. Marks and ranks may not be available to the public.

Reply posted by AFD: To undergo a fashion design course, you could study in any stream in the 12th standard. Admission is based on your performance in the entrance exam. Minimum requirement to design course admission is only 50% mark in the 12 exam. The skills tested in the entrance exam are developed over a period of time and needs to be cultivated from an younger age. AFD's courses would put you in the right track in your preparations. AFD is conducting weekend couching program at St.xaviers College from August 15th

Online training is not really feasible for the situation test. However if you are preparing for the written exam, you could enroll into an AFD online course

Reply posted by AFD: Hi Deepa. Congratulations for being shortlisted for the Situation Test. You will get the letter from NIFT probably by this month end giving you the dates and your centre. You can expect questions where you will be provided with some materials and asked to make a 2D or 3D model out of it and also to give a brief write up about your design. The ranks for the design students will be given out only after the Situation Test results are declared as the percentage of marks for the written test is 40% for GAT and 40% for CAT and the balance 20% is for the Situation Test.

NID at PG level has sepearte tests for students applying to different streams, but at UG level, both NIFT and NID hold a comon entrance test for all streams.

Reply posted by AFD: Hi Heena. Our postal coaching program for NIFT UG Design course is for Rs.5000/- and the combo pack for NIFT/NID is for Rs5500/-. The Summer vacation program in Delhi starts from May 15th to June 20th and the enrolment fee is Rs.12,000/- only. These programs wil prepare you for the NIFT/NID written exams. NIFT 2008 written exam results have been declared on 13th evening and AFDians have come out in flying colours.

Comments : hi... i appeared 4 the nift written exam on 10th feb.... the result is out 2day n i hav not leared it.... though both my gat & cat paper were good.... i'm really very dissappointed.... on the page there was a disclaimer written stating that the result stated above may not be legally valid..... in that case, can i still keep my hopes high that maybe i get selected ?????

Reply posted by AFD: Hi Nupur, we are sorry that you didn't clear the written exam. The chances of there being a mistake is very minimal. However, you can re-confirm your result once NIFT puts up the list.

Fashion designing requires you to be creative enough to put your innovative ideas with perfection on paper. Remuneration wise fashion designers can get a starting salary of anything between 20000/- to 40000/-. So there is very good scope for fashion designing.

Reply posted by AFD: Hello Anjana, in NIFT PG Mgt and Appl Prod streams, GAT & MAT exams are there and for the Design 'n Space stream there is GAT & CAT. In NID PGDPD, there is only the Design Aptitude Test followed by Studio Test and Interview. AFD offers postal and classroom coaching for the preparation of all these exams.
